Reconstitution Solution →Concentration is mass divided by volume. A 10 mg vial reconstituted with 2 mL of diluent yields 5 mg/mL; the same vial with 1 mL yields 10 mg/mL. Nothing about the material changes — only how concentrated the resulting solution is, and therefore what volume corresponds to a given mass.
The volume displaced by the solid itself is very small at the masses typically supplied for research and is conventionally treated as negligible, so the final volume is taken as the volume of diluent added. Where that assumption matters, the final volume should be measured rather than assumed.
